2024, Gala GuideIt’s time to party! The Shepherd Center’s annual Derby Day is Atlanta’s biggest Kentucky Derby-themed fundraising event and a Shepherd Center tradition since 1983.
Since 1983, Derby Day has raised an incredible $5.2 million for Shepherd Center’s Recreation Therapy program. As the nation’s largest recreation therapy program, Shepherd Center provides spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation care and helps patients get back into the community by taking them on outings, teaching leisure skills and developing other skills needed in everyday life.
This popular event is filled with fancy hats, seersucker suits, mint juleps and lots of fun. For 40 years, Derby Day has stood the test of time as a festive event with food, drinks, lawn and casino games, music and of course the big race.
