The Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter celebrated an unforgettable evening of generosity and purpose at the 2026 Dancing Stars of Atlanta Gala. The event achieved a historic milestone, raising more than $2.6 million to support Alzheimer’s research, care, support services and education across Georgia.

Chaired by philanthropist Susan Been, this year’s gala united Atlanta’s business and philanthropic community in a powerful display of commitment to ending Alzheimer’s disease and supporting families impacted by it.

“Witnessing the dedication of our Star dancers and the incredible generosity of this community was truly inspiring,” said Been. “The impact of this record-breaking night will be felt by families across Georgia as we continue to advance research, expand care and provide critical support.”

A highlight of the evening was the participation of 11 local business leaders and philanthropists, each paired with professional dancers. Over the course of several months, these Star dancers dedicated themselves to intensive rehearsal schedules while also leading ambitious fundraising efforts—all in preparation for the one-night competition to win the coveted mirror ball trophy.

The competition showcased both technical talent and philanthropic spirit. Shelly Justice, an Atlanta-based community leader, earned the People’s Choice Award as the top fundraiser, bringing in more than $626,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association mission. Meanwhile, Alex Palmer Roman took home the Judge’s Choice mirror ball trophy, achieving the highest technical score from the panel of judges for their standout performance. Atlanta attorney, Desmond Humphrey, won the mirror ball for the inaugural Alzheimer’s Association All-Star Award.

The evening’s performances were evaluated by a panel of five judges; including two professional dancers and celebrity judge Brandon Claybon, star of the CBS daytime drama Beyond the Gates, who brought insight and enthusiasm to the judging panel. The program was hosted by Savannah Louie, winner of Survivor Season 49, who served as Mistress of Ceremonies and energized the room with her dynamic presence.

“This milestone reflects the extraordinary commitment of our community,” said Clay Jacobs, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter. “Together, we are making meaningful progress toward a future without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.”
