Kate’s Club, the Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering children, teens, their families, and young adults facing life after the death of someone important to them, hosted its 2026 Mourning Glory Gala at The Stave Room. The evening united supporters, families, and community leaders while celebrating the power of connection and collective care in the face of grief. This year’s event raised more than $450,000 to support Kate’s Club’s programs to help those experiencing loss thrive together and create a world in which it’s okay to grieve.

This year’s theme, “Team Kate’s Club,” underscores a simple but powerful truth: life is always better when there’s someone in your corner. For those navigating grief, that support system is essential. Kate’s Club serves as that team, and the organization is calling on the community to join by volunteering, giving, and standing alongside the children, families, and young adults who need it most.

“Grief can feel incredibly isolating, but no one should have to go through it alone,” said Lisa Aman, Executive Director of Kate’s Club. “At Kate’s Club, we believe healing happens together. The Mourning Glory Gala is an opportunity for our community to show up as a team – to surround grieving families with care, compassion, and connection, and fundraise to expand our programs.”

The event featured an inspiring program, opportunities to give, and moments highlighting the resilience and strength of the Kate’s Club community. Proceeds from the evening will directly support the organization’s free programs, which provide safe, supportive spaces for individuals to process grief and build lasting connections.

The need for organizations like Kate’s Club has never been greater. In Georgia alone, more than 230,000 children are grieving a loss, with more than 100,000 in Metro Atlanta. One in ten children, and one in eight in communities of color, will experience the death of a parent or sibling before turning 18. By age 25, that number doubles. When grief goes unaddressed, it can lead to mental health challenges, poor academic outcomes, and involvement with juvenile justice. By helping children navigate grief in healthy, connected ways, Kate’s Club builds resilience and prepares them for what lies ahead.
