Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s “Numbers Too Big To Ignore”
The Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s “Numbers Too Big To Ignore” Luncheon raised more than a million dollars to support women’s and girls’ causes across metro Atlanta. The sold-out luncheon, held November 2nd at the Georgia World Congress Center’s Thomas Murphy Ballroom, featured celebrated actress, model, author, and women’s advocate Brooke Shields in conversation with WSB-TV anchor Linda Stouffer.
“I want women to feel valued,” Shields – who is celebrated for both extensive work as an actor and an advocate – told the crowd of 1600 attendees. “It’s not about ‘I am woman hear me roar,’ rather, ‘I am woman, hear me more.”
Others in attendance included: Event chairs Heather Lamb and Tish Harrison, Juliet Asher, MD., Alice Ball, Liz Blake, Susana Chavez, Ilene Engel, Deborah Goodman, Etta Raye Hirsch, Anne & Tim Sheehan, Lucy Carpenter Vance, Regan Lanier, Liz Blake, Meredith Lackey, Charmaine Ward-Millner, AWF CEO Kari B. Love, Meredith Leapley, Maurice and Theolyn Blackwood,
The luncheon, this year celebrating the organization’s 25th anniversary, serves as a platform to highlight issues impacting women and girls in Atlanta, fostering meaningful dialogue about issues at-risk women and girls face and ways to provide access to economic empowerment. Proceeds this year supported the newly launched “All Girls Forward” initiative, focusing on empowering girls experiencing poverty through education, mental and physical health, and pregnancy prevention, as well as the ongoing programs for impacting the lives of women living in poverty.
